Bio

Prior to joining the Chase Center, Schoen was the James Richard Hamilton/Baker and Hostetler Professor of Humanities and Chair of the Department of History at Ohio University. 

Schoen earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas, a master’s from the University of Virginia, and a PhD in history from the University of Virginia.

He has authored or co-edited several award-winning books on early United States history.
