Bio
Dr. Paul T. Wilford's research and teaching focus on modern political philosophy, the origins of liberalism, philosophy of religion, philosophy of history, and the philosophy of technology. His interdisciplinary research has appeared in journals such as Idealistic Studies, The Political Science Reviewer, The Review of Metaphysics, American Political Thought, Il Pensiero, Ethics in Progress, and the Southern Journal of Philosophy. He is the co-editor of Kant and the Possibility of Progress: From Modern Hopes to Postmodern Anxieties (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2021) and Athens, Arden, Jerusalem: Essays in Honor of Mera Flaumenhaft (Lexington, 2017).
He is currently at work on a book titled, Hegel and the Doubleness of Self-Consciousness: Recognition and Transcendence in the Phenomenology of Spirit (under contract with Durham University Press).
He holds a PhD in Philosophy from Tulane University, an MPhil in Political Thought and Intellectual History and a BA in Classics from the University of Cambridge, and a BA in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College, Annapolis.
