Bio

Dr. James Hooks previously held teaching positions in Canada, Japan, and the UK, and most recently served as Assistant Director and Lecturer at the Hamilton School of Classical and Civic Education in Florida. 

Dr. Hooks earned his PhD from the University of Oxford in 2023. 

His dissertation focused on the French philosopher Pierre Bayle and the early modern debates over religious toleration. His research explores the connection between religion and politics in the early modern period, with particular interests in natural law, freedom of conscience, and the intellectual legacy of the Reformation.
