Salmon P. Chase Lecture Series

The Salmon P. Chase Lecture Series advances our understanding of citizenship well lived and pays tribute to Salmon P. Chase’s legacy and impact. After an 11-year run at Georgetown University’s Center for the Constitution, the lecture series moved to The Ohio State University in 2025. The inaugural lecture at Ohio State featured bestselling author Walter Stahr, whose 2022 biography Salmon P. Chase: Lincoln’s Vital Rival recounts Chase’s integral role fighting for the civil rights of all Americans as a pro-freedom attorney, as Ohio governor and U.S. senator, Lincoln’s secretary of the treasury, and as chief justice of the United States.
